DIY Couture - How to Make a Pleated Skirt

£9.00

Learn to sew a pleated skirt without a complex sewing pattern! DIY Couture books contain a set of simple, visual instructions, including variations so the garment can be almost endlessly re-invented. Diagrams and pictures take the maker through the creation process, so that unique, personally fitted pieces of clothing are accessible to anyone.

This skirt is a pleated skirt that can sit on either the waist or the hips. In its most basic form it is made of four pieces of fabric – two for the skirt and two for the waist band. It fastens with a zip and a hook and eye at one side.

The skirt can be made with a wide or a narrow waist band, it can be made to sweep the floor or to brush the thighs, accentuating the appearance of long legs. It can be made with light fabric that keeps its shape, with stiff fabric so that it sticks out or with floppy fabric that hangs sleekly against the body. It can be made with multiple pieces of fabric to make stripes or blocks of colour and pattern. It can be finished with a hem or with a coloured bias binding for decoration.

DIY Couture's books are beautifully designed with fresh, clean photography and colourful diagrams. They measure 260mm x 210mm (slightly shorter than A4) and have a simple matt paperback cover.
