In celebration of Morris' creativity and her pioneering social status as a working female professional, this fabric series sheds a light on her influence. Drawing on original embroideries and artworks discovered within the William Morris Gallery archives, Craft Garden also highlights the significance of the Arts & Crafts style within Liberty's rich heritage.

May Morris, the younger daughter of William Morris and Jane Burden, grew up steeped in the ethos of the Arts & Crafts movement. Born in 1852, May Morris was a pioneer of art embroidery, leading the revival of this art form in the world of craft. Inspired by medieval artifacts and the natural world, alongside managing the Morris & Co. embroidery business for over a decade, she created enticing wallpaper prints and intricate jewellery designs.
