Hot Patterns 1264 - Date Night Dress
Sometimes you just want (or need) a pretty dress ... but nothing too frilly, nothing too tight and with sleeves.
Unlined, semi-fitted pull-over dress has elbow-length kimono sleeves and a bodice with a centre front seam and 'V' neckline; a cut-on facing gives a crisp 'V'. Neckline is slightly raised and becomes a back neckband; small tucks form at the front shoulder point.
Skirt has a centre back seam but no side seams; each skirt front is pleated into the centre front seam with an inserted, folded and gathered cascade.
Dress has a waist seam. You can elasticate this seam and wear it with or without a belt, or add as self fabric or contrast drawstring & casing.
Hemiine is slightly longer at the back; front hemline raises at the front to allow ease of walking without a slit.
Suggested fabrics: This pattern is drafted for woven fabrics. You can also use a not-too-stretchy knit. You'll get the best results with a medium or lightweight fabric, just bear in mind your fabric should be drape-y & soft. Tey wool, silk, polyester or rayon crepe, soft all-over lace, georgette, linen knit or a super-washed and soft woven linen, even a beaded or sequined tulle or mesh.
