A delightful book bag sewing pattern. Clear instructions and lovely images at each stage make this a very easy bag to make up. A project either to transform your own book or as a present for friends and family. Ideal for travelling, commuting to work or just to add a touch of luxury to your own favourite paperback.
The book bag has its own unique beaded bookmark attached so you will never lose your place. The beads add extra weight to help keep it in place.
The finished book bag will cover an average paperback measuring up to 13 cm wide by 20cm high by 3-4 cm deep (approx 500 pages).
Suitable fabrics to use would be cotton, denim, corduroy, velvet and similar good quality fabrics.
The Liberty Kingly needlecord or the Michael Miller cottons on this website would be ideal.
Materials needed: 30cm x 1m wide of your chosen fabric; 27 x 37cm white cotton lining (thin cotton sheeting); 27 x 37cm 2oz wadding (battening); small piece of medium iron on interfacing 10 x 25cm; matching thread; 40 cm of 3mm wide white ribbon; your choice of co-ordinating beads, we have used 3 of different sizes; beading needle with large eye.
Skill level: Beginner. This project is suitable for anyone with basic sewing skills and experience of a sewing machine.
