About Me

Hi there

My name is Susan Stevenson and I now run sewbox.co.uk, an online sewing boutique offering carefully selected modern sewing patterns sourced from the US, Canada and Sweden;  beautiful fabrics, and the convenience of matching threads, zips, interfacing etc.

I have recently (21 Feb 2011) taken over the reins of Sewbox from Leah Taylor, who started the business in April 2010.  My aim and focus is to further build and enhance the Sewbox Site, introducing new and stylish Pattern ranges together with an expanded range of beautiful, inspiring and exciting dressmaking fabrics.  The haberdashery and sewbox essentials sections will also be built up,  giving an ‘all in one’ sewing and dressmaking shop on just one Site.

The focus of the Site is to provide a total, enjoyable and relaxing experience for the dressmaker in this hectic and time-restrained life we all seem to lead.  The Site is aimed at serving all levels of seamstress from the beginner through to the experienced dressmaker.

A bit of background about me …. I have been passionate about beautiful fabrics, stylish clothes and sewing all of my life and since leaving a fulltime career 18 months ago, I enrolled as a student of the Suffolk Sewing School.  Over the months,  I greatly enhanced my sewing skills but even more importantly I re-energised my love of creative sewing and making beautiful finished items.  It has been great fun  .. the sewing community are warm and friendly people, always sharing skills and new ideas.  I have made lasting friendships and it made me realise this is the place I want to be from now on
The opportunity arose for me to buy Sewbox and achieve my aim of running an on-line business which lavished my passion of all things ‘sewing related’ ….  it just seemed so right, such perfect timing and as if it was just meant to be!!
I hope to build on Leah’s previous hard work by keeping this blog updated with a wealth of sewing-related hints, tips and news – featuring regular pattern reviews, interviews with pattern & fabric manufacturers, showcasing the newest products, and of course lots of “how-to” articles of the things to help you.

Please join me on my forward journey by subscribing to my blog.
