Launched in 2008 by Portland-based designer Sarai Mitnick, Colette Patterns is an amazing vintage inspired collection of sewing patterns. They are inspired by the past, but with modern touches and very well thought through – I just love the fact that the dresses come with pockets! And the patterns even include – wait for it – a glossary! Sarai has put so much love and care in to these patterns, and it really shows. They come in beautiful hand-stitched booklets with really clear, easy to follow instructions and lots of pictures.
The patterns also look really versatile, some can be made in lightweight or mediumweight fabrics for a completely different look. And, for those vintage-loving brides out there, I reckon they’d even make gorgeous bridesmaid dresses- and ones that your bridesmaids could wear again and again.
I just can’t wait to sew one of these up for myself – unfortunately I am going away for two weeks tomorrow sans sewing machine, so it’s going to be an agonising wait… In the meantime, you can get your hands on one of these here. Enjoy!
