Christmas Gifts and Stocking Fillers…

by Leah Taylor on December 1, 2010

Ho ho ho, and happy 1st December! As the countdown to Christmas now truly begins, I thought it would be nice to highlight some of the things in the shop that would make lovely presents…

First up, these gorgeous handmade ceramic buttons are fabulous little gifts and can be used to upcycle, embellish, and even just look pretty on a bookshelf. They are so divine to look at and normally cost £12 each, but are just £7 until December 19th. See whole collection here.

If you know someone just starting out with sewing clothes, why not treat them to a set of 3 DIY Couture books on how to sew a cape, pleated skirt and gathered dress? These books walk you through how to sew these three garments step by step and offer lots of advice on how to customise them for truly do-it-yourself couture style. All 3 books together cost £22.50 and are gift wrapped in tissue paper and ribbon. See book bundle here

We also have some wonderful sewing kits designed especially for children! Our Sew Easy sewing kits are a great first sewing project for children aged 7+, and are currently on offer at just £8.99 each (normal price £11.99).

The new Modkid “Mummy and me” sewing patterns would also make lovely Christmas gifts for any mums you know – a fabulous collection of four skirt styles is offered in both women’s sizing (Madeline) and girls’ sizing (Maddie), and a knit dress and top is offered as a girls’ version (Penny) as well as women’s version (Penelope). Individual patterns are priced £9-£10.50, but a set of two Mummy and Me patterns can be purchased for £17 (the discount will be applied in the shopping cart). View whole Modkid collection here.

While we’re on the subject of sewing patterns, you can treat a friend (or yourselves??) to a bundle of any 3 Hot Patterns for just £30. Hot Patterns have just released two gorgeous new styles, the Classix Nouveau Dressy Jean and the Classix Nouveau Scarf-Shirt, which would make fabulous gifts. I won’t be getting any new stock now until the New Year so get these while stocks last! To make use of the 3 for £30 offer, you need to use this link.

Now on to a great stocking filler, or even just a great way to build your own supplies up- I am offering bargain bags of threads and zips – you can even include special requests for specific colour ranges or zip types / sizes! A bargain bag of 20 Gutermann Sew-All threads costs just £16 (normal price £27); a smaller bag of 10 Gutermann Sew-All threads costs £9 (normal price £13.50) ; and a bargain bag of 10 assorted zips costs just £13 (normal price £19.10).

Other stocking filler ideas could include…

  • Kwik Trace tracing paper – a must-have item, once people discover this paper there’s no going back. Tracing paper strong enough to be used for a toile, so save yourself time and money as there’s no need for muslin!
  • No-one can have too many pins or sewing machine needles in their toolkit, and they make an inexpensive yet thoughtful gift.
  • Have you checked our range of beautiful buttons?
  • Our list of recommended sewing books is also worth checking out as books always make great presents.

Happy Christmas everyone, from Sewbox HQ!
